The Cleveland Clinic (2023), defines Cardiac Arrest as an electrical issue that makes the heart stop beating or beats so fast that it stops pumping blood. During Cardiac Arrest people collapse and become unresponsive. Symptoms start without warning. According to the American Heart Association (2023), sudden cardiac death remains the most common cause of non-accidental death among college athletes.
If you see someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, do this:
Call 911 immediately.
Start CPR, even if it’s just the hands-only version.
Use an AED (automated external defibrillator) if there’s one available.
On Tuesday, November 12, Major G.O.A.L.S. was invited to participate in the Adult, Child, & Infant CPR & AED Certification Course by League Park Youth Baseball Founder Keith Benford, Hough Resident. The class was hosted by Prestan Products, in Solon, Ohio. The training was delivered by The Payton Walker Foundation in partnership with Val Woods CPR Training. As parents, let’s join together and get our families CPR and AED trained. Let’s raise awareness about CPR and AED training for coaches, leaders, and athletes, in our schools and recreation organizations. Click on the links below to learn more.
